Power Peel

What is the Power Peel?

The Power Peel is our AFA Chemical Peel with Microdermabrasion. Doing the pass of Microdermabrasion will make the peel 50% more effective. Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation process that gently removes the outer layer of your skin, where the dull, dead skin cells reside. The Power Peel is ideal for those with dry to normal skin and is highly effective at improving skin conditions like uneven texture and pigment irregularities (including sun damage and redness), as well as other general signs of aging such as fine lines, dullness and moisture balance. It improves photodamage and hyperpigmentation, evens tone and texture, reduces redness and exfoliates dead skin cells with little to no irritation.

What to expect?

You will experience a light ‘sandpaper’ sensation during the microdermabrasion pass. No discomfort and is well tolerated. You may experience a warm, tingling or a burning sensation during the application of the peel afterwards. This feeling is tolerable. You can take an ibuprofen pre-treatment to relieve any discomfort. After the application of the Power Peel, your skin may appear white and “frosted” in areas. This will subside within the first few hours. During the next few days, your skin may feel tight and experience mild flaking. It is common to experience a light exfoliation rather than peeling.

How to Prepare (pre-treatment):

Do not use active cosmeceutical agents such as Retin-A, AHA, BHA, glycolics, tretinoin, etc. for the first 24 hours prior to treatment. Do not use prescription Tretinoin or similar products within 72 hours before treatment. Avoid waxing, hair removal creams or treatments within 72 hours of treatment and avoid shaving for at least 12 hours before. Patients should wait to have an AFA treatment at least 1 week after receiving neurotoxin or dermal filler injections.

What to Expect Afterwards (post-treatment):

Do not cleanse your skin the evening of your peel. Do not pick or pull any flaking skin. Avoid waxing, hair removal creams or treatments within 72 hours and avoid shaving for at least 12 hours prior. Do not use active cosmeceutical agents such as Retin-A, AHA, BHA, glycolics, tretinoin, etc. for the first 24 hours after treatment or up to 72 hours if the skin is experiencing slight redness. Apply chemical-free sunscreen everyday for 2 weeks and keep the skin moisturized. Avoid makeup for 24 hours.

How Many Sessions?

A course of 4-6 Power Peel treatments are recommended at 2-4 weeks apart for optimal results.
