Power Peel

What is the Power Peel?

The Power Peel combines the rejuvenating benefits of our AFA Chemical Peel with the exfoliating power of Microdermabrasion to deliver enhanced skin renewal and exceptional results. By performing a pass of Microdermabrasion before the AFA Chemical Peel, the treatment becomes up to 50% more effective, allowing the peel to penetrate more efficiently and maximize its skin-rejuvenating benefits.

Microdermabrasion gently exfoliates the outermost layer of the skin, removing dull, dead skin cells to reveal the fresher, healthier skin beneath. This creates the ideal foundation for the AFA Chemical Peel, resulting in smoother skin, improved product absorption, and a brighter, more radiant complexion.

The Power Peel is an excellent treatment for clients with dry to normal skin and is highly effective at improving uneven skin texture, pigmentation irregularities, sun damage, redness, fine lines, dullness, and the visible signs of aging. It also helps improve skin hydration and moisture balance while gently exfoliating with little to no irritation.

The result is smoother, brighter, healthier-looking skin with improved tone, texture, and radiance—making the Power Peel one of our most effective treatments for achieving a refreshed, youthful complexion with minimal downtime.

What to Expect During and After your Treatment

Your Power Peel begins with a gentle Microdermabrasion treatment. During this step, you will experience a light exfoliating sensation that is often compared to the feeling of fine sandpaper moving across the skin. The treatment is comfortable, non-invasive, and well tolerated by most clients.

Following the Microdermabrasion, the AFA Chemical Peel is applied. During this portion of the treatment, you may notice a mild warming, tingling, or slight burning sensation. This is a normal response and is generally very tolerable.

Immediately after your treatment, some areas of the skin may appear white or “frosted.” This is a normal reaction and typically subsides within the first few hours. Over the next several days, your skin may feel slightly tight and you may experience mild flaking as the skin naturally renews itself.

Unlike more aggressive chemical peels, the Power Peel typically results in light exfoliation rather than significant peeling. As your skin completes its renewal process, you can expect a smoother texture, improved clarity, a more even skin tone, and a brighter, healthier-looking complexion.

How to Prepare for Your Treatment

To ensure the safest treatment experience and optimal results, it is important to properly prepare your skin before your Power Peel.

For at least 24 hours prior to your appointment, discontinue the use of active skincare products, including AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and other exfoliating agents. Prescription-strength products such as Retin-A®, tretinoin, and similar vitamin A derivatives should be discontinued for at least 72 hours before treatment, unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider.

Please avoid waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, and other hair removal treatments in the treatment area for at least 72 hours before your appointment. Shaving should also be avoided for a minimum of 12 hours prior to treatment.

If you have recently received neurotoxin injections (such as Botox®) or dermal fillers, we recommend waiting at least two weeks before undergoing a Power Peel.

During your consultation, your skin care specialist will review your skincare routine, recent treatments, and medical history to ensure your skin is properly prepared and that the Power Peel is the most appropriate treatment for your skin concerns.

What to Expect After Your Treatment & Aftercare

Following your Power Peel, you may experience mild flaking or exfoliation as your skin naturally renews itself. On the evening of your treatment, do not cleanse your skin, and avoid picking or pulling at any flaking skin to allow for proper healing and optimal results.

For at least 72 hours after treatment, avoid waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, and other hair removal treatments in the treated area. Shaving should also be avoided for a minimum of 12 hours following your peel.

Please refrain from using active skincare products, including Retin-A®, tretinoin, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and other exfoliating agents for at least 24 hours after treatment, or up to 72 hours if your skin remains red or sensitive.

Keep your skin well hydrated with a gentle moisturizer, avoid wearing makeup for the first 24 hours, and apply a chemical-free broad-spectrum sunscreen daily for at least two weeks to protect your skin and support the healing process.

By following these aftercare recommendations, you can help maximize your results and enjoy smoother, brighter, healthier-looking skin with a radiant, refreshed complexion.

How Many Treatments Are Recommended?

Many clients notice smoother, brighter, and healthier-looking skin after just one Power Peel. However, for optimal improvement in skin texture, pigmentation, sun damage, fine lines, and overall skin rejuvenation, a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced approximately 2 to 4 weeks apart is recommended.

This treatment schedule allows for progressive skin renewal and continued collagen stimulation, resulting in a smoother, more even, and radiant complexion. Once your desired results have been achieved, maintenance treatments can be scheduled as needed to help preserve your results and keep your skin looking healthy, youthful, and refreshed year-round.
