What is Filler?

Dermal Fillers are injected into the skin to fill in wrinkles, provide facial volume and augment facial features. Dermal Fillers helps with soft tissue growth, helps with production of collagen and elastin and attracts water which allows the skin to become more hydrated. Dermal Fillers can be injected to all areas of the face.

What does it feel like?

Some areas are considered to be more sensitive than others. A topical numbing cream is applied prior to injection and the product itself has Lidocaine in it.

Am I a good candidate?

People who are in good physical health, not pregnant or breastfeeding and do not have any underlying health conditions that could affect healing are generally considered suitable candidates.

How to prepare (pre-treatment)

Come to your treatment with a clean face. Avoid alcohol, Advil, Tylenol, Aspirin and vitamins a few days prior to treatment to reduce risk of bleeding and bruising. Do not stop prescribed medication without consulting with the injector.

Post treatment and aftercare

The results are seen immediately. Ice can be used to help with swelling. Notify your provider if bruising/pain persists. For lip filler, avoid using a straw for 24 hours.

How many sessions are required?

Results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on the product used. The length of results varies for each individual. The amount of sessions depends on how much volume is required to achieve your desired look.

Possible Side Effects

Risk of discomfort, redness, swelling and bruising are common but often subside within 5 days or less. Infection is a potential risk with any puncture of the skin and it is also possible to have an allergic reaction to the product injected. Activation of cold sores is also a possibility. Localized necrosis or blood vessel occlusion is a severe complication that can be treated quickly with hyaluronidase. Lumpiness can also occur from improper placement of product or product migration which can be dissolved using hyaluronidase.
