Clay AFA Peel

What is the Clay AFA Peel?

The Clay AFA Peel is an advanced exfoliating treatment for the face and body that combines the benefits of an AFA (Amino Acid Filaggrin) Chemical Peel with the purifying properties of bentonite clay. Designed for clients with normal, oily, or combination skin, this treatment deeply cleanses, gently exfoliates, and helps restore a healthier, more radiant complexion.

The treatment begins with the application of a bentonite clay mask, which draws excess oil, impurities, and environmental debris from deep within the pores while gently exfoliating the skin’s surface. This process helps minimize the appearance of pores, improve skin clarity, and create the ideal foundation for the second step of the AFA Peel, allowing the active ingredients to penetrate more effectively.

The Clay AFA Peel is highly effective in improving coarse or uneven skin texture, pigmentation irregularities, acne-prone skin, sun damage (photodamage), dullness, and the visible signs of aging, while also supporting the skin’s natural moisture barrier.

This versatile treatment is an excellent option for the face, neck, décolletage, and body, making it ideal for treating concerns such as acne, pigmentation, and sun-damaged skin beyond the face. It can also be incorporated into combination treatment plans, such as alongside IPL or other professional skin rejuvenation procedures, to enhance overall treatment outcomes.

Whether your goal is clearer skin, a more even complexion, or smoother, healthier-looking skin, the Clay AFA Peel offers a gentle yet highly effective solution with minimal downtime.

What to Expect During and After Your Treatment

The Clay AFA Peel is a comfortable, two-step treatment designed to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and rejuvenate the skin. During the application, you may experience a mild warming, tingling, or slight burning sensation. This is a normal part of the treatment and is generally well tolerated by most clients.

Immediately following the treatment, you may notice mild redness and, in some areas, a temporary white or “frosted” appearance. Both are normal responses and typically subside within a few hours.

Over the following several days, your skin may feel slightly tight and begin to experience mild flaking as the exfoliation process takes place, particularly if you have sensitive skin. Unlike more aggressive chemical peels, the Clay AFA Peel typically results in light exfoliation rather than significant peeling.

As your skin renews itself, you can expect a smoother texture, improved clarity, a more even skin tone, and a healthy, radiant glow. Many clients notice their skin feels refreshed, deeply cleansed, and revitalized after just one treatment.

How to Prepare for Your Treatment

To ensure the safest treatment experience and optimal results, it is important to properly prepare your skin before your Clay AFA Peel.

For at least 24 hours prior to your appointment, discontinue the use of active skincare products, including AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and other exfoliating agents. Prescription-strength products such as Retin-A®, tretinoin, and similar vitamin A derivatives should be discontinued for at least 72 hours before treatment, unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider.

Please avoid waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, and other hair removal treatments in the treatment area for at least 72 hours before your appointment. Shaving should also be avoided for a minimum of 12 hours prior to treatment.

If you have recently received neurotoxin injections (such as Botox®) or dermal fillers, we recommend waiting at least one week before undergoing a Clay AFA Peel.

During your consultation, your skin care specialist will review your skincare routine, recent treatments, and medical history to ensure your skin is properly prepared and that the Clay AFA Peel is the right treatment for your skin concerns.

What to Expect After Your Treatment & Aftercare

Following your Clay AFA Peel, you may experience mild flaking or exfoliation as your skin naturally renews itself. On the evening of your treatment, do not cleanse your skin, and avoid picking or pulling at any flaking skin to allow for proper healing and optimal results.

For at least 72 hours after treatment, avoid waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, and other hair removal treatments in the treated area. Shaving should also be avoided for a minimum of 12 hours following your peel.

Please refrain from using active skincare products, including Retin-A®, tretinoin, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and other exfoliating agents for at least 24 hours after treatment, or up to 72 hours if your skin remains red or sensitive.

Keep your skin well hydrated with a gentle moisturizer, avoid wearing makeup for the first 24 hours, and apply a chemical-free broad-spectrum sunscreen daily for two weeks to protect your skin and support the healing process.

By following these aftercare recommendations, you can help maximize your results and enjoy a smoother, clearer, brighter, and healthier-looking complexion.

How Many Treatments Are Recommended?

Many clients notice smoother, brighter, and more refreshed skin after just one Clay AFA Peel. However, for optimal improvement in skin texture, pigmentation, acne, and overall skin health, a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced approximately 2 to 4 weeks apart is recommended.

This treatment schedule allows for progressive skin renewal and continued improvement, resulting in a clearer, more even, and radiant complexion. Once your desired results have been achieved, maintenance treatments can be scheduled as needed to help preserve your results and support long-term skin health.
