The AFA Chemical Peel is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that combines naturally occurring amino acids with fruit acids to gently exfoliate, resurface, and revitalize the skin. Unlike many traditional chemical peels, AFA peels are designed to deliver powerful results with little to no irritation, making them an excellent option for individuals with dry, sensitive, or environmentally stressed skin.
This treatment works by removing dull, dead skin cells from the skin’s surface while helping to restore proper moisture balance and support overall skin health. The result is a smoother, brighter, and more youthful-looking complexion with improved tone, texture, and radiance.
The AFA Chemical Peel is highly effective in addressing a variety of common skin concerns, including uneven skin texture, pigmentation irregularities, sun damage, redness, fine lines, and dullness.
The AFA Chemical Peel offers a wide range of benefits for clients seeking healthier, smoother, and more radiant skin. This gentle yet effective treatment helps improve the appearance of sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone while creating a smoother, more refined skin texture. By exfoliating away dull, dead skin cells with minimal irritation, the peel reveals a brighter, fresher complexion and helps restore the skin’s natural glow. It can also help reduce redness and visible signs of irritation, support healthy hydration and moisture balance, and soften the appearance of fine lines and other early signs of aging. Suitable for many skin types, including dry and sensitive skin, the AFA Chemical Peel is an excellent choice for clients looking to rejuvenate their skin and achieve a luminous, youthful complexion without the downtime often associated with more aggressive peel treatments.
During the application of the AFA Chemical Peel, you may experience a warm, tingling, or mild burning sensation. This is a normal part of the treatment process and is generally well tolerated by most clients. If you are concerned about discomfort, you may choose to take an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as ibuprofen, prior to your appointment, provided it is appropriate for you.
Immediately following the treatment, certain areas of the skin may appear white or “frosted.” This is a normal response and typically subsides within a few hours. Over the next several days, your skin may feel slightly tight and begin to flake as the exfoliation process takes place.
Unlike more aggressive chemical peels, the AFA Chemical Peel typically produces a light exfoliation rather than significant peeling. As the skin renews itself, you can expect a smoother texture, improved radiance, and a healthier, more refreshed appearance.
To ensure the safest treatment experience and optimal results, it is important to properly prepare your skin before your AFA Chemical Peel.
For at least 24 hours prior to your appointment, discontinue the use of active skincare products, including AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, and other exfoliating agents. Prescription-strength products such as Retin-A®, tretinoin, and similar vitamin A derivatives should be discontinued for at least 72 hours before treatment, unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider.
Please avoid waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, and other hair removal treatments in the treatment area for at least 72 hours prior to your appointment. Shaving should also be avoided for a minimum of 12 hours before treatment.
If you have recently received neurotoxin injections (such as Botox®) or dermal fillers, we recommend waiting at least one week before undergoing an AFA Chemical Peel.
During your consultation, your skin care specialist will review your skincare routine, recent treatments, and medical history to ensure your skin is properly prepared and that the treatment is appropriate for your individual needs.
Following your AFA Chemical Peel, you may experience mild flaking or exfoliation as your skin renews itself. Do not cleanse your skin on the evening of your treatment, and avoid picking or pulling any flaking skin.
For at least 72 hours after treatment, avoid waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, and other hair removal treatments. Shaving should also be avoided for at least 12 hours. Refrain from using active skincare products, including Retin-A®, tretinoin, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, and other exfoliating agents for 24 hours, or up to 72 hours if your skin remains red or sensitive.
Keep your skin well moisturized, avoid makeup for 24 hours, and apply a chemical-free sunscreen daily for two weeks to protect your results and support healthy skin renewal.
Many clients notice brighter, smoother skin after just one AFA Chemical Peel; however, a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. This approach helps improve skin tone, texture, hydration, and pigmentation concerns while enhancing overall skin radiance. Maintenance treatments can then be scheduled as needed to help preserve your results and support long-term skin health.
