Eyebrow Waxing

What is it?

Eyebrow waxing is a method of removing unwanted hair with hot wax.

How does it work?

The hot wax is applied to the skin with unwanted hair.. As the wax cools, it melts onto the top layer of the skin and grips at each hair strand. Once the wax is applied, a cloth strip is placed over the wax, pressed down on and pulled off, resulting in removal of the hair.

What does it feel like?

You will experience temporary pain when the strip is pulled off. The pain does not linger.

What to expect afterwards and aftercare

You may experience redness and tenderness in the area that was waxed. This is normal. Following the treatment do not exfoliate as scrubbing will irritate the skin further. If you must exfoliate your face, skip the area that was waxed. Moisturize after you cleanse your skin. If you are experiencing itchiness in the area, apply aloe vera for relief. Don’t tweeze any hairs until your skin has returned to its natural state with no more redness and tenderness. Avoid make-up as this can clog the pores. Avoid heat from activities such as saunas, steam rooms, tanning beds, as well as hot baths or steaming showers for 24 hours to avoid aggravation of your skin. In between waxing treatments try not to pluck out new growth.

How often should I wax?

Every 3 to 4 weeks, trying your best to avoid tweezing in between sessions.

Possible side effects

Pain, redness and irritation, rash, temporary bumps, ingrown hairs, sun sensitivity, allergic reactions, bleeding, infection (if bleeding and you do not apply antibiotic ointment), scarring (if you get a sunburn shortly after your treatment or experience infection).
